✿~June 13~♥

Recalling June 13 in UK......

As the exchange rate of UK Sterling Pound was around 5 that time, we could not afford to have meals outside everyday...

Thus, we would prepare lunch and dinner ourselves in the house...

Simple spaghetti with Prego sauce and topped with Basil would be our lunch or dinner...

Or else, we would buy 1 pound pizza from Aldi and topped with my favourite BBQ sauce then shared as one meal of the day...

And after meal, this is the best part in UK... we enjoyed the most!!!

We would have fruits as desserts... Our favourite, fruits~ especially CHERRY~★

Cherry is so worthwhile in UK, as we could get as low as £1 in ASDA for 250g, or else might be lower in ALDI... ^^ however, Asda's would seemed fresher compared to lower cost in Aldi...

PS: I checked with mum for the price in Msia, it was RM60 per kg... >.<

✿~June 11~SHU Orientation~♥

Recalling June 11 in 2012.....

This day was the orientation day, the first day we went to our beloved SHU city campus...

From Charlotte Court, it would take about 20 minutes to walk to Owen Building...

As for the first time, we were still new there, we took a longer road to campus... haha!! =)

After nearly half hour of exercise, we finally arrived in Owen Building...

Hey, forgot to mention, there was an uphill before reaching Owen Building, that part of route to uni everyday was not my favourite... XDXD

All of the TARC students were gathered in the Pennine Lecture Theatre~★

There was Andrew Bromley, the friendly student co-ordinator greeted us with warm welcome... ^^

Pennine Lecture Theatre~

After the orientation ceremony, we went to The Hubs to get tickets to weekend trips...

It was quite a disappointment when found out that we were too late to book for Tong Hang's Weekend Trips which was more recommended ones, as Allen and Zen were very nice and lovely tour guides...

Anyhow, we were still going for weekend trips!!

There were trips organised by Hallam Union which was sold in The Hubs that noon...

Su Wei and I went to The Hubs after light lunch which provided by SHU after the orientation...

We bought ourselves, Monkey and Eng Seng tickets to weekend trips and parties...

There were Cowboy Party and Disney Party, sounded interesting right?

✿~June 10~♥

Recalling June 10 in 2012...

As we had done some shopping in - ALDI ★

We enjoyed breakfast with - HARVEST MORN ~ Chocolate Crunch ★ with Raspberries

The combination was tasty, as cereal alone would be too sweet, thus with the sourness from Raspberries, having this just made our morning wonderful...

Milk - £1
Harvest Morn Cereal - £1.xx (not more than £1.50)
Raspberries - £1

My favourite milk there was with the lowest % of fat, if not mistaken, it was 0.4% Fat stated on the bottle, it tasted so nice... Unlike milk in Malaysia which seem to be 4% Fat, hahaha!!! =p

For only these price, we could really enjoy mornings in UK... ^^

It was a small town area... lovely...

We took lunch in a bar - The Bankers Draft - ★

Ordered a Jacket Potato and Ham & Egg, they were delicious!! Worthwhile 2 for £6.49... ^^

✿~June 08~♥

Recalling June 08 in 2012,

It was a memorable day, where i was onboard Singapore Airline, arrived in Manchester Airport...

It was drizzling that day, felt the cooling weather in the ending of Spring...

We waited in the airport for someone to lead us to the coach to get to our hostels in Sheffield...

Su Wei and i were in the same plane... so we just stick together...

When we arrived at the gathering point, we saw Mei and Joanne, which became our flatmates then.. =)

It was a roughly 2 hours journey to get to CHARLOTTE COURT, our new home in UK during the study...

I got the Number 1 room in flat 9, which being the master bedroom in the flat... lucky me... =p

We were guided by the senior residents for internet usage in the room, thanks a lot to Ujin and Yu Huang... ^^

Then we went for walkaround... enjoying the cold weather, unlike hot ones in Malaysia...

✿~Tips for Self-Study~♥

This is exactly what i need for coming exam on 11th June, facing my nightmare P2!!!!!

Tips from ACCA~~★

1 Make use of support
Make use of any distance learning support you have. Some of you will be distance-learning candidates so will have access to remote support from tutors – use it.

2 Use the latest materials
Sometimes students studying at home will use second-hand study materials, which may be out of date. The syllabus for some exams changes so you must make sure you have the latest materials – or at least know and have access to whatever material has changed.

3 Find a peer group
One of the most effective ways to learn is to have a peer group of people who are all trying to achieve
the same goals. Find friends or people you may know and regularly meet up or communicate to
support each other through your exams.

4 Be disciplined
Be disciplined in your studies. It’s very easy to want to take extra breaks, or not really push yourself
hard when studying at home. You must focus on the reasons why you are taking the exams and use
those and strict time management to keep yourself disciplined.

5 Immerse yourself in a topic
When you study at a college you will concentrate on one topic or paper for days at a time. The reason
is that the human brain learns best when immersed in learning. Use this principle and focus on one
topic or one paper for hours at a time. It may get boring, but it works.

6 Do practice questions
It can be very easy to become lazy about doing practice questions at home. You can fool yourself into
thinking that just because you have read something you know it and don’t have to test yourself. You
must do practice questions as you study.

7 Recreate exam conditions
In order to perform well in the actual exam you must get your body and mind trained to be able to
cope with the physical and mental pressure. So make sure you do mock exams under exam conditions
including sticking to time limits, using a small desk, sitting continuously for just over three hours,
writing neatly, etc. The better you can recreate exam conditions the better you will do in the real exam.

✿~Orientation Day~♥

★~SHU Orientation Day fell on 11 Jun 12~

Normal stuffs on orientation was known to be BORING~~ =p

After welcoming speech from Mr Andrew, we headed for our FREE LUNCH~ there was choice of pasta or rice~

Pasta served with some salmon and rice served with chicken chunks~

The Hubs started selling Day Trip Tickets at 12pm if not remembered wrongly...

Xiao Hui and I went to grab our day trip tickets and for Monkey and Yinsin as well~~

We regretted did not make reservation with Ellen and Zen (Tong Hang) from Facebook before coming... they are really nice and friendly, Ellen is pretty!! haha~~ ^^

The difference between trips organised by Hallam Union and Tong Hang were one with pretty colourful original maps and another one with printed or photocopied maps... also, Ellen, Zen or other agent may tell us in details about the place we were going and which are the must-stops... on the other hand, some Hallam Union student guides may have done their homework before guiding us but most of the time they did not speak much about the destination and just giving us the maps to let us discover ourselves... then we might miss a lot of interesting sites at the destinations... =p

Back on The Hubs, there were counters selling different day trip tickets situated in different rooms, we looked for the ones that we were interested, almost ALL though~~ haha!! ^^

We booked with Ellen for 2 York tickets, 2 Bicester Village and 1 MU ticket for myself... these tickets were not booked for Monkey and Yinsin as they were still in Malaysia on the date of the trips or else they needed to work on assignment on the day we were going to Bicester Village...

Other than that, we bought Disney and Cowboy parties tickets, Whitby, Blackpool, Cambridge, Leeds and Cheshire Oaks day trip tickets for 4 of us~~ ^^

The prices and summary for all trips organised by Hallam Union were stated clearly in the small booklet which placed on the desk in our room in hostel...

All trips organised by Hallam Union depart from The Hubs, thus all of us must be at The Hubs 10 min before the departure time... =p

On the other hand, all trips organised by Tong Hang will come to each hostel to pick us up~~ how nice!!! ^^

I did not remembered exactly which day but we have gone for registration of SHU Card a.k.a Student Card, medical and submission of bank draft for the balancing tuition fees...

During the process of registering the SHU Card, photo on the card was taken on the spot...lolx hence there were many complaints after the SHU Card distributed right after the registration had done... =p mine look dumb and noob~~ haha!!

After that, we needed to make appointments with senior residents Ujin for opening bank account~~ there is choice of Natwest or Barclays, Xiao Hui and I chosen Natwest while Monkey and Yinsin opened their accounts with Barclays... ^^

NatWest provided 2 cards of Basic Savings Debit Card and Debit Card... both NatWest cards can be used during shopping and withdrawals while Barclays provided 2 cards as well, yet the Savings card can only be used to withdraw cash in Barclays branches while the Debit Card can be used to withdraw cash in any FREE CASH ATMs... =p

✿~Memory~The Big Day~♥

★~The Big Day refers to the DAY i fly to UK for my Bachelor Degree after graduating from TARC for Advanced Diploma...

The big day was 07 Jun 12... i had my itinerary on hand and together with my parents heading to Penang International Airport...

My flight was scheduled at 1805 on 07 Jun 12...however, we ought to be arrived at the airport 3 hours before the departure time...

At the airport, it was the second time for me to meet my new friend Su Wei (Xiao Hui)...

Both of us checked in 2 luggage with size L and S for a maximum weight of 35kg for all bags checking in as we were taking Singapore Airline (SIA)... as for other airlines such as Emirates and Etihad, they get to check in 40kg...

My itinerary:

1805-1930   07 Jun 12   Penang International Airport to Changi Airport (MI0351)
2310-0750   08 Jun 12   Changi Airport to Manchester International Airport (SQ0328)

Total on-plane time was 01 hr 25 min plus 14 hr 40 min ~ 16 hr 05 min...

We get to go around in Changi Airport during the transit gap of 3 hr 40 min, we shopped for Doritos, introduced by Xiao Hui, tasty tortilla chips!!! ^^ **not available in Malaysia oo~~

During the flight, the meals are nice and i had all of meals and snacks... on the other hand, Xiao Hui very pitiful, she suffered from nausea all the way to Manchester and barely ate anything...

Cocktail~Singapore Sling is available on plane...it was nice and helps for my nap~~ ^^

The flight ticket costed RM3,899 plus RM102 for me to depart from London for return, there was a total of RM4,001 paid to the travel agent MSL Travel Sdn Bhd, there was a girl that in charge of my flight~Janet, she is a nice and friendly attendant, i met her when i went to purchase travel insurance for my stay in UK...

The travel insurance i bought for my stay in UK was Chartis Student Insurance~Superior for 5 months... It costed RM285... ^^

The total tuition fee that we had to pay Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) was GBP3811, however, we have paid 300 pounds when we registered so there is a balance of 3511 pounds to be paid in form of cash or bank draft...

Together with the tuition fee, i brought along a bank draft of GBP2400 and cash GBP600 for living costs...the bank drafts are required to bring along as for immigration checking purpose...some who are lucky might not checked by the officers but bring along for safety oo... ^^

By the time i bought my bank drafts and exchange for pounds in cash, the selling rate was 4.96...considered a little low at that time, lucky me~~ ^^

My boarding pass~~ a bit faded d~~ =p

When we arrived at Manchester International Airport, there is FREE Wifi for usage of 30 minutes...there were two student leaders who showed us the way to the gathering ground, at there we met TARC friends from different courses...

That was where we met Chang Yin Fan (A Mei/Chang Chang) and Ng Joanne (Joanne) and we realised that there were just 2 of us arrived first and the same applied with them so we decided to stay together~~ ^^ it was a blissful and happy start for me~ haha!!

We stepped out from the airport when we were about to get on board the bus to our hostels, there was drizzling outside and we felt the COLD weather in UK~~ that was NICE~~ unlike HOT weather in Msia~~ hehe!!

We arrived at Charlotte Court after an approximately 01 hr 30 min bus ride~~ Andrew was in the bus with us and he is friendly and helpful, especially to GIRLS~~ =p

Xiao Hui, A Mei, Joanne & me were the first team to check in and we got ourselves lucky no. 9 Flat, it was situated at the back of the common room, which makes our windows facing the main gate... ^^

I was having Room 1, Xiao Hui Room 2, Joanne Room 4 while A Mei Room 5, Room 3 & 6 were occupied by other students...

When i walked into my room, i was SHOCKED~~ it was BIG!!

In Charlotte Court, if the corridor in the flat was having straight design, then the "Master Bedroom" would be Room 1, which have bigger space, double bed and bigger toilet as well... On the other hand, if the corridor was like a Y design, then the "Master Bedroom" would be Room 5...

I was so overwhelmed to have chosen the bigger room... unfortunately the double bedsheet that they provided cannot be fit onto the double bed, so i used blanket to cover the other side of the bed... ^^

There were Seniors Ujin and Monica helped us with our internet and we could always ask for their help when needed...how nice of them...

At night I unpacked and put my things nicely on the long table in my room...that was the beginning of my joyful days in UK~~ ^^

This was My Room!!! missed it so much~~^^
